This two-day paediatric first aid course focuses on emergency scenarios that face professionals looking after young children and infants, including teachers, playgroup leaders, childcare providers, au pairs, nannies and childminders.
The paediatric first aid course meets the standards required by Ofsted.
Who should attend?
This course is for people working with younger children – those up to eight years old – or working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education.

The course covers how to deal with accidents and emergencies involving young children as well as adults.

- The role of the first aider
- Communication and casualty care
- Managing an emergency
- Allergic reaction
- Asthma and diabetic emergencies
- Bleeding
- Bone, muscle and joint injuries
- Burns
- Childhood conditions
(e.g. measles, meningitis, croup) - Choking
- Eye injuries
- Foreign objects
- Head injuries
- Heat and extreme cold
- Poisoning, bites and stings
- Resuscitation (all ages CPR)
- Seizures
- Spinal injuries
- Treatment of an unconscious casualty
Course duration
The overall course lasts two days. These can be placed over two consecutive weekend days to suit your needs. If you have a group of 4 or more we can also send instructors to your place of work and hold the course on your premises.
Assessment and certification
Continuous assessment by trainer. Successful candidates receive a certificate, valid for three years.
